Thursday 9th: St Michel's Mount, going home

I was a bit sad because I'm leaving cornwall this day. I got my stuff packed up. I had to catch the train from Truro at 4:20 so it would be cool to do some things before then. I was hoping I didn't disrupt other people's plans too much by needing to be dropped at that place. I booked the latest train possible. I was a bit frustrated because people didn't seem to be in a great rush to leave and I think we left at about 11 or 11:30.

We left and drove toward this place.
I know how to say "cornish pasty" with a great cornish accent now.

We had some coffee because I guess we were all feeling tired. I'd just had two pieces of vegemite toaste for breakfast. Amanda, the American, thinks it tastes really bad. Amelia thinks it tastes alright, but seems to be being very patriotic toward Marmite, claiming that Marmite is better. That is incorrect. I think Liddy wasn't too impressed with it claiming that Kraft don't make good things.

I drink coffee now.

Awesome old guy driving our boat. I think I am quite a bit cornish in ancestry, so this guy is probably my Uncle. The boat is taking us to St Michel's mount because that's where we're going today.

We rode over on the boat because the tide was high. It cost 1.5 pounds. Good price.

We stopped in a gift shop which is this building on the right. They had lots of really cool books inside. I bought a Collin's guide to British Trees. It was only 5 pounds. I was really excited to find this book. It's got lots of great diagrams of how they work and the different types and everything. I'd like to be able to identify them all.
We climbed up the hill. It was a little lush. It was nice.

The others got stuck talking to these people. I was having none of that. I went exploring around the place.
The talking guy took this picture.
Then we went into the castle.

Some of Napoleon's hair and jacket.

A mummified cat. Amanda loved this.

Back in the carpark.
We ate a little bit of food in the car park. An old lady tried to sell us a cactus. None of us wanted a cactus. Then we continued on.

We got to Truro to the train station. I said goodbye to them all. I will see them again in a few days. But I wish I could stay in Cornwall longer. It's been really fun. I will certainly need to find a way to come back to England. If I lived here I would visit Cornwall quite regularly. It is very beautiful. You can go treking across this area by foot. There are 'public footpaths' through people's fields. It's a great country. The people I stayed with were also fun.

Another train journey.

Someone sat in my reserved seat! But I found this one instead. Great scenery on the way back. I read my book about British trees. It's really interesting.

It's a really beautiful country!

I landed in Picadilly train station.
Then I caught the tube over to St Pancras station. I was a bit early because I wanted to be safe if the trains were late. I'm not sure how good long distance trains are in the UK. It was right on time I think.

At St Pancras station I sat down for a while. Because I had some time to spare I fired up the laptop and checked out some stuff. They have free internet at St Pancras. It's great. As I was sitting down, a young French lady asked if she could plug her iphone into my laptop to charge it. Sure. Then she walked off and left me with her iphone. Very trusting person!

It took a long time for them to display which platform I should catch my train at. It was late coming in. But I got on. I was very tired then. I think my train left at 11:30 or so. Also the train made a few stops. It was a bit annoying. I was very tired and just wanted to sleep. I read a book about chemistry on my Amazon Kindle and listened to some Parliament probably.

I got into Nottingham at about 2 or 2:30 am. Then I caught a taxi to my room at Nottingham. I slept. It was good.
