I felt like I slept in a lot but when I woke up it was only about 8:30 or 9. It is probably the change in time zone.
I spent some time on the internet, writing down directions to the next hostels I'll be at (I have found that this is good to have) and buying some accommodation in Washington D.C.
Then I got going. I went across the street and got a sandwich.
| This sandwich was kind of interesting. The guy makes all the sandwiches right there, cutting all the stuff and throwing it together. |
| It all looks ridiculously American. |
| I don't know what to make of it. It all seems a bit surreal. Like I am on some kind of movie. |
| Williamsburg bridge. |
| I don't know who this is. Maybe Amanda knows. |
| I walked over the Williamsburg bridge. |
| Manhattan through the fog. It was a bit drizzly in the morning. |
| Now I'm in Manhattan. In China Town. |
| I got a pizza in little italy. The pizza was okay. Not terrible; fairly good; but not quite as good as Napoli. |
| A little before this photo, it rained a lot. |
| Cars parked on top of each other. |
| "Avenue of the strongest" |
| supreme court. |
| Some guy. |
| squirrel. |
| Woolworth's building. |
| I bought an adaptor plug so I plug stuff in here. With the purchase I'm entitled to a free coffee from their cafe upstairs. Coffee was a bit ordinary, but here I am drinking it in New York. In front of Ground Zero, coincidentally. I didn't really know it was there. |
| Ground Zero. |
| Battery Park. The southern most point of Manhattan. |
| Looking across to New Jersey I think. I think that tall building in the far distance looks good. |
| I think this is a good looking building. |
| This strange thing. Apparently was home to someone who it was decided by someone to have been a saint. |
| I went inside. |
| Some buildings. The one on the left is some kind of famous old tavern. |
| nice buildings. |
| the other money related building. I was feeling a bit strange inside while walking around here. I used to think this stuff might be fun to see, and it kind of is. But also, I have realised lately that I don't really like capitalism and the ideals it encourages, very much, and this area is fairly well drenched in all of that stuff. |
| Wall Street. The building on the left belongs to Trump apparently. |
| Statue of George Washington. This is where he was inaugurated as first president of the USA apparently. Also there is some kind of building here, with the outside designed on the Parthenon in Greece. There was an older building here which is where George Washington did some stuff. |
| The inside is like the Pantheon in Rome. |
| The church at the end of Wall Street. |
| This indian place to me looks very similar to the subway sandwich place... |
| This building looks kind of similar to the one where Patrick Bateman works in the movie American Psycho. But I'm not sure. It just occured to me that that building must exist somewhere. |
| Near Pier 19 I think. |
| Then I walked over the Brooklyn Bridge, into Brooklyn. |
| I got to the other side. |
| The bonnet of this car is covered in spikes... |
| I started to realise that I had a long way to walk. I passed this long section of really old abandoned houses. They are covered in growth. |
| I saw some of these orthodox jewish people. I thought it was a bit rude of me taking a picture of these people, so I was fairly rushed and the picture blurred. A few moments after this picture was taking, I was walking along, and I had been contemplating things such as remembering how Americans are sort of able to carry around guns with them or something like that. I was thinking about that because I'm never really sure if I'm in an area where I might get mugged. Then, on the ground by my feet, I noticed a red laser dot moving around. Like you can see in movies when someone is about to get shot by a long range rifle. I thought this was really strange, so I kicked up the pace a bit and got away from there. I hope this was just kids playing around... |

The walk home was quite tiring. I finally got home and then I bought a sandwich and then hung out and watched Harold and Kumar go to White Castle with a guy here in the hostel, on the projector screen. Then I wrote this blog.
