Sunday 12th: walking again, rain, back to Nottingham

We got ready in the morning and put everything into the vans. Then we drove off for the walk. Today we were going for a walk which was near the border to England, in the northern part of Wales. The hostel we were staying at was in the north west, at 'coastal snowdonia' apparently.

We drove to this place. A few of the walks were starting from the same place today. Just three were going on the walk that I chose. I chose walk 4. No one is on walk 5. We started walking.

A little way into the walk it became apparent that it was going to rain quite a lot. I didn't take many pictures because it was so wet, and that's probably not good for the camera.
Not the best picture, but this describes the situation pretty well. It was very very wet, and windy. We just had to plough through it.

Nice fog.
We kept going. We climbed up over a hill. As we went over this it became even more windy. We were facing the full wind here, whereas before we were a little bit sheltered. One of the other guys was saying that he was feeling that he was getting hypothermia. He said he wanted to just stop for a while, and that his body wasn't working properly. In retrospect I think I was feeling the same thing. Going up the hill was terrible. I was very fatigued and the mud and wind were draining my energy. At one point I managed to get two Snickers chocolate bars out of my bag which gave me a little more energy.

We walked down a bit of a gully thing, then ate some lunch. Then we continued for the rest of the way and finally down through a little forest and into the town where we started.

We walked to the pub where the others were waiting. Group three had headed back after very little walking! We just cut off a little bit of our walk. Walk 2 were still not back because they had a linear path which meant they couldn't cut off anything from their walk.

The people in the pub had bought some potato and leek soup that came with bread. It looked really really good. So I ordered some. It was really really good.

We were all incredibly soaked after the walk. After walk two got back we got into the cars and then left. I was very tired. On the drive home I listened to some Parliament. They are really funky and awesome.

My camera got a bit moist in my bag from the rain. Damn.
I got back to my room. Nottingham looked like it had been flooded. I sat in my room for a while and relaxed and stuff. Then I realised that I'd left my camera in the van. Noooooo. I must have just been so tired that I dropped it to the ground while I was looking at my Amazon Kindle and other stuff, and just didn't notice, and then left it there.
