May 28th - June 4th: hanging around for a while

I've forgotten which order these things happened in and I may have forgotten some things:

After exams I felt very tired. I think I was feeling a little down about stuff as well. I've had a really great time in England and I don't really want to go back. I've met lots of really cool people and there is always something new to see in Europe somewhere. Finishing exams is kind of a relief. But it is also one major thing that's come to an end which is an indication that there is not much time left here. There'll be no more classes here. No more studying that I'll have to do. I want to keep having these same experiences that I've had while on this exchange, somehow.

The first night after exams, I guess the 27th, I think was the time when we went to see the movie Hangover II. After that we went to a bar. It was kind of fun. But also a bit loud. On the radio there came a song by the Hilltop Hoods. That's very strange, because, the Hilltop Hoods are a band from Adelaide in Australia where I am from. It is also strange because my first guitar teacher did the piano work for that album. We drank a little bit at this bar and then paolo and I walked home. We got pizza from a shop. I got a margerhita which was very good. It is great that in England you can buy pizza for 3 pounds at 3 o'clock in the morning. I really like this country.

I watched a few movies this week with Bhavika and Amelia and some other people. One night we watched Bunny and the Bull from my hard drive. This movie was made in Nottingham and is also really good with cool animation techniques and an abstract kind of feel and is also quite sad and nice I think. I really like it. After that we watched A Clockwork Orange. I'd just watched this movie a few days before so I found it a little tedious, but it's okay. I like watching these kinds of movies.

One day I played the piano they have in the hall. I played moonlight sonata again because I just like that song. I will buy a piano someday and learn more songs. At first my fingers were a bit inaccurate, but they soon became more accurate and it was really good. I think that taking a break from an instrument sometimes is a really good thing. When I get back to it I always feel refreshed.

One day we went to Matthias's house and cooked pizza. That was quite good. Then we went into the city to the cocktail bar Coco Tang or somewhere. I think I got a little bored at one point because I just don't really like this kind of shouting thing very much or I don't understand it. And then Amanda messaged and asked if I wanted to go walking around the lake so I decided that would be fun. I walked home and did that with her. I was feeling a little bit frustrated with things in general, with anxiety about going back home and other things, so I probably vented that to her a little bit, and it's a credit to her that she put up with that.

One night we went to Baa Bar for Sellina's birthday. The night was okay although I wasn't sure if I was really feeling very excited for it. But eventually I just decided that I would do some ridiculous dance moves to pass the time. This worked because that day I'd had 6 espressos for dinner plus some others during the day. I recently decided to start drinking coffee after Amelia made us all some a couple of weeks ago. On a couple of days I decided to see how much coffee could be drunk. This was one of those days. It was good. Then we went to Rock City and did that a little bit more. Then Paolo and I caught a taxi home.

One night we went to play Laser Tag. That is like paintball shooting except you have a plastic vest which can detect lasers shooting at it, and you shoot against the other team. It was quite intense and sweaty. But I did quite well and I was happy about that. In the first game I got most accurate and fourth highest points score. And in the second game I got fourth most accurate and 5th highest points score, out of twelve. After that we went home, had a shower, and then went to Marion's house for a while.

One day I met up with Matthias, Fred, Charlotte and Paolo at the park where Fred and Matthias were playing some basketball. We threw the frisby for a while, I played Matthias's guitar, and we laid on the grass for a while. The weather was good.

One day we said goodbye to Karlijn. We played celebrity heads. Two people were Osama Bin Laden. I was Christopher Reeve. I was very confused because my second question was "Am I an actor?" and people said no, and then they forgot to correct themselves until at the end when I said that I had no idea and I asked again if I'm an actor and they said yes. But then I got it.

One day I bought a bowl so that I could eat crunchy nut cornflakes in my room:

On the night of the fourth, a bunch of us drank a little bit at the Mooch bar and then listened to a bit of the concert that is playing on the downs, but didn't listen to that much. I watched some people climbing over the roof of our hall trying to get in. Some security guards saw them and then a police officer had a talk with them. Then we went to the Rose and Crown to drink a little bit of beer. Then I said goodbye to all of those people because that would be the last time I would see most or all of them. It was very strange saying goodbye to these people with a reasonable probability that you may not see them again and at the least, as Matthias pointed out, if people did meet up again it wouldn't quite be the same. I was a bit sad to say goodbye because I would like to keep hanging out with these people. It all feels very strange.

After drinking with those guys I went back home and joined Bhavika, Amelia, Tanja, and Tanja's boyfriend Toby to watch the Matrix trilogy. But a little while into I realised that I'd watched those movies way too much and that I actually don't really like them anymore. Plus I had to get up at 6am to go to Cornwall and I still hadn't packed my bags. So then I went back to my room and packed my bags a little bit. I got to bed at 4:30 with the alarm set for 6.
