Thursday 3rd - Friday 4th: Tired. Not very eventful.

After Wednesday night I was fairly tired. I didn't do much on Thursday. I might have done some studying. In Topics in Scientific Computing (numerical methods) we are doing some methods that approximate functions which take in two independent variables for each function value. It's really cool. I've missed a few of those lectures, so I thought it might be beyond me. But this day I started unravelling it. It seems fairly similar to one variable methods, just using the more complicated Taylor expansions of higher dimensional functions.

On Friday I had a sleep in and then walked to Beeston to go to Tesco's. Saturday and Sunday I would be out most of the day so I had to get food. There were cans of rice cream/rice pudding for 17p. But I noticed it was "Tesco's value" or "Tesco's basics" brand. I read an article a while ago saying that Tesco's and Sainsbury's are having to compete with some other supermarket chains like the German 'Lidl' who apparently have cheaper items. To compete, they had to cut some corners. Apparently the sausage rolls, for example, have only something like 10% meat, and then 80% water and animal fat. So I didn't buy the budget brand rice pudding. Next time I'll read the label to check exactly what is in there.

Food tonight in the hall was really good comparatively (meaning that everything was edible and one or two things tasted pretty good). Macaroni cheese, chips, peas, garlic bread, soup, bread, apple pie with cream.
