Monday 28th, Tuesday 1st March: studying, formal dinner

I am still a bit behind with maths stuff that I'm supposed to know. So for Monday and Tuesday, I went to lectures for a change. I think I got through about 1/4 of the Coding and Cryptology module.

Monday night there was a formal dinner again. This is the second one. The first was on about the second night after I had arrived. I spent a while trying to figure out what formal clothes I could wear, then decided that I had to face the facts that I have nothing formal. I wore a pair of dunlop volley shoes with a hole in the right one, jeans, an old long sleeve shirt I picked blackberries in once, and my black jumper which has been described as "the ugliest jumper I've ever seen". I just wanted my food. I was very hungry.

Food at this formal was very good. First was some kind of pastry thing with tomato and other stuff. For the main course I decided to have the vegetarian thing. It was a pile of vegetables done in some way that made them taste very good. After I consumed that I tried a big piece of chicken. The carnivores had a big plate of chicken that they served themself from. It looked alright. It did taste fairly good. However the serving people were being very fast tonight, so I didn't really get to finish it all. For dessert there was some kind of apple or pear slice. It wasn't anything special. All the exchange students were on the same table for this meal so I had people I knew to talk to.

On Tuesday I just did some studying and went to all the lectures.
