Monday 28th: formal dinner and moustache party

Today I walked to Beeston to get a bag for when I go to Europe in a week. There is only one week left of lessons before the Easter holidays. Those holidays go for four weeks so I'm planning to have a look at mainland Europe during that time. I think a larger backpack will be better for this than my suitcase. I found a quite cheap backpack, so I bought it. 44 pounds.

I did some procrastinating with homework. I've fallen into a kind of slump. I'm disappointed by that.

In the evening was the last formal dinner for the hall. This time I went really fancy by wearing shoes that have no hole in them. At the dinner they had a jazz band playing. The warden of the hall is leaving after this semester is finished, so I think they wanted to make it a fun formal for him. But, I spoke to him once and he seemed to say that he doesn't really like the formal dinners. So this is a bit ironic.

The jazz band is in the corner there. The tutor who lives in my building was playing the keyboard! I didn't know he was a musician. He played well.

The English students being ridiculous.
I left a little early. I found out later that I think we're not supposed to do this. I just followed the other people at my table who were leaving. The dinner was really dragging on though, and I needed to get somewhere.

After dinner I walked over to Marion's house. She had to go back to Austria for a funeral, so I think the idea was that we'd give her a nice welcome back. Nice idea from the originators of this. Fred made some mojitos which are a kind of cocktail thing. I'm not that interested in drinking those kinds of things though. I drank some South Australian wine! Jacob's Creek shiraz. It was alright. From their lower priced range. We drew moustaches on our face with texta because it was a moustache party. It was a really nice vibe at the party I think. I had a really fun time.
