Thursday 4rd February. New room. Savoy cinema: 127 hours

After the previous night not getting much sleep I didn't really make it to the 9am lecture. So I decided that this day I'd follow up my plans to move room. I also did a bit of clothes washing. Very exciting. I went to the reception and asked about the room change form. I filled it in and asked if there were any other rooms free. A little while later I had an email saying I could ask one of the ladies to show me the room and see if I wanted it. The room was fine and apparently was one of the quieter buildings, so I took it. They gave me the key straight away. It went very smoothly. They were very empathetic of my plight. That afternoon I squeezed all my stuff into my suitcase and bag then moved to the new room.

Mmm. Crunchy nut cornflakes. 2 pounds for 750g.

Blurry outside shot, but you get the idea. I'm on the ground floor this time.
This room is slightly bigger than my previous room. There are 18 people in this building compared with 150 or something ridiculous for the last.

Since living in this building I've gotten a great night of sleep every single night. Hooray! Very quiet.

Also this night, I think I went to the cinema with Matthias and Paulo. Matthias I met rambling the last weekend. Paulo I met at the meetup on Monday night with the tutors and warden, but Paulo knows Matthias independently as well. Paulo is from Perugia in Italy.

We went to the Savoy Cinema which is about 30 minutes walk away. The price is very cheap. 3.8 pounds for a student. We saw the movie '127 Hours' which is a true story about a guy who got trapped in a remote rocky area in the U.S. with his arm stuck behind a rock that fell. He has to free himself somehow. I wasn't sure about this movie since the plot is very simple so I wasn't sure what they could do with it. But I was also curious to see what they would do with it. It was quite moving I thought, and I had some different responses than I would have imagined.

Afterwards we walked to a pub, the Rose and Crown. They stop serving beer at 11pm so we had to be quick. We got one each. I got a fosters for some reason. We talked about various stuff. It was fun.

  1. LOL Fosters you Australian stereotype. :p

What's the white door in your room?
Seems like the radiator might be in a better position too.
