29th: lazy, Thai for dinner

I had a big sleep in. Then I went downstairs and ate more Fruit Loops. I think Tre was down there and also some of the other guys from my room. So I hung around for a while and talked to all those people. There are a bunch of people and they are all quite cool. I didn't really feel like heading out into the very hot weather, and it is nice to hang out with some cool people. So I stayed in for the day with those guys.

Later in the day, I think a Texan guy, Jay got to the hostel. There was also a girl called Alison from Bournemouth in the UK. We decided to head out to dinner together. I threw out 'Thai' as the suggestion. People went for that suggestion. There was also Tre, a guy called Jayden from my room and New York, and the Russia guy, Andrew.

We found a Thai place which was not the one we intended to reach but it looked better. I got a chili curry thing with vegetables, basmati rice, and beef. It was really good. We found that they had a really nice looking toilet. It was nice eating a meal with these people! I think it is interesting that most people in hostels are probably interested in having a meal with other people if they don't know too many people themself, and then it just takes one person to introduce an idea that everyone go out to dinner together and then it usually becomes a great time. The same thing happened in Levanto, Cinque Terre, Italy when I met some people there.

After the dinner we walked back to the hostel. Then Jay and I decided that we'd share a six pack of beer. We walked to the place and bought some Newcastle Lager. I found that this tastes really good. We also bought some things for Tre because he is underage at 18 years old. We got back to the hostel and Tre, Jay, Alison and myself played 'The Game of Life'. I played this once before and thought it was not a very good game. I agree with my original assessment. However we didn't really mind.

Partway through our game, the Cuban girl and some of her friends said that they were going out somewhere and that we should all come too. In retrospect we realised that none of us were really that interested in going, but we all made a passive "I guess I'll go if you all go" and so we all ended up going. Some French people also joined us, and Jayden, Andrew, and a few others probably. We somehow made it onto the bus. The bus driver let us ride for free because some of us couldn't work out how much we had to pay and the other passengers were probably getting annoyed. We got to the club that was supposed to be playing house music or something. According to Jay, who used to play music something like this, they were doing good stuff at first, but then a new guy took over and it became quite boring. I think I agree with his assessment. The place was also quite empty, possibly because it was about 12am or 1am by the time we got there. It was weird pretending to dance in that kind of empty space, but we made some kind of attempt. Jayden had some funky moves.

After a while, Jayden, Alison, and I decided that we were fairly bored with it so we decided to catch a bus back. We somehow found the bus, which was amazing given that none of us were from that city and none of us had any idea about where we were. The layout of the city makes it easier. Streets in one direction are letters, in alphabetic order. In the other direction they are numbers. They also come with a NW, SW, NE, SE depending on their quadrant in relation to the capital building in the centre of the city. So that makes it fairly easy to know which direction you need to head in to find the hostel.

We got back and then we just hung out for a little while and went to sleep I think.
